  Instruments

At Mac's Music, you can choose to have lessons on a number of different instruments (of the stringed and fretted variety!)

Guitar

Ah, Guitar! It sells itself. Endlessly versatile and instantly familiar.

It's hard to oversell the guitar's importance in rock music styles, but its reach goes well beyond, with it playing a part in almost every musical genre of the 20th century!! Whether you wish to study traditional classical styles, folk acoustic, blues rock or thrash metal (and everything in between!) you will find a great deal of satisfaction in the journey intself!....(ooooh!)

Bass

Whilst guitar may well move your soul, in addition, bass can move mountains!

There's something about a strong, funky bassline that can shake your very cells! Bass forms the body of any band unit, and you can learn about its crucial role within this dynamic, as well as how to stand out when necessary!

Banjo

To my mind, nothing else sums up America's contribution to instrumentation better than a 5-string banjo! An African instrument adopted and developed in the South and places like New Orleans which became a staple in traditional music. The Irish immigrants liked it so much, they took it back to Ireland where it also became a staple instrument in Celtic music! From accompanying 'frailing/ clawhammer' techniques to 'Scruggs-style rolls, there's plenty to keep you practising!

Ukulele

The king of portability amongst cumbersome fretted instruments! With a recent, massive resurgence in popularity, the ukulele represents an ideal instrument for vocal and folk accompaniment, and also a relatively untapped avenue for creative musical fusions!
