Lessons at Mac’s Music are on a private individual basis (though small group lessons can be accommodated), and take place at my home studio in West Preston.
Personal goals are always assessed when deciding on lesson approaches so as to ensure you achieve what you want out of your instrument. So, whether you wish to persue music studies at a tertiary level, just play your favourite songs, advance through examination grades, or just have a bit of fun; i can get you going!

Rob McPherson - Guitar / Bass

Rob has been playing guitar for almost 30 years (and teaching for over 20 years!) and through his passion for all styles of music, has performed (among other things) blues, rock, jazz, funk, roots, electro and pop with innumerous bands…
Current bandwork sees him rounding out the other half of the dual-guitar instrumental powerhouse, ‘Hot Wings’, as well as his own multi-media, filmic solo project, ‘Garagee’.
His skills as a multi-instrumentalist, engineer and producer have seen him work with many local bands and artists including Shhor, Jane McArthur, Hesius Dome, Los Tremoleros, Party Pest, SweetCell and Telltale.
Rob completed an Advanced Diploma of Music (Contemporary) at the Box Hill Institute College of Music and went on to further complete a Bachelor of Teaching at Melbourne Uni. , majoring in secondary level classroom music and instrumental guitar teaching. Ensuing internships and job positions at Fairhills Secondary College, Blackburn Secondary College, Box Hill Tafe, Ron Leigh’s Music Factory, Billy Hydes and Mannys have assisted him in developing a very focused and individually tailored approach to teaching. Through these appointments Rob has coached dozens of VCE students through their coursework, many of whom have been accepted to and continued on to tertiary studies and subsequent employment in the areas of music performance, sound production and music education.
